1850 QUEEN VICTORIA ROMAN I SOVEREIGN (s.3852c)

1850 QUEEN VICTORIA ROMAN I SOVEREIGN (s.3852c)

Second (large) head Shield Reverse London Mint Sovereign

This 1850 Queen Victoria Sovereign demonstrates a perfect example of what i believe to be a clear minting experiment. The prominent error is visible on the first numeral of this date. The 1 of the date has been struck using an I. This very rare variety has became known as the “Roman I” because of the similarity to the Roman numeral 1.

EXTREMELY FINE, AND VERY RARE                     £1,650
